As St. James reminds us, ‘faith without good works is dead’. (James 2.17)We offer our own intentions this morning as we pray Our Father…Thank you for joining the Oblate Family for this moment to pause this morning.May God continue to walk with each of us today.

We don’t always do, speak or behave in ways that are proper or healthy for ourselves or those around us. At times like this let us not despair or give up. All is not lost.  All we have to do is turn to God and pray humbly and honestly, ‘Lord, have mercy me a sinner.’ (Luke 18.13)We offer our own intentions this morning as we pray Our Father…Thank you for joining the Oblate Family for this moment to pause this morning.May God continue to walk with each of us today.

When Jesus visits the home of Mary and Martha, they each welcome Jesus in different ways. Martha serves Jesus, Mary listens to him. Neither one is better than the other. In our own daily lives, we are called to both pray and put our faith into concrete action as we serve and care for those around us.

When the Pharisee asks Jesus, ‘Who is my neighbour?’ Jesus tells the parable of the Good Samaritan. What does mean for us today? Regardless of race, colour, creed or political beliefs, my neighbour is anyone who is struggling and needs my help. Today, may I be aware of and attentive to those around me to whom I am being called to serve and be neighbourly.
We offer our own intentions this morning as we pray, Our Father…

Hello and welcome to the Oblate Family morning reflection - Our Moment to Pause. This week we hear from Pat Hughes from Birkenhead, England.Welcome to our Oblate moment to pause.Sunday’s Gospel reading, taken from Matthew 21 :33-44, is the parable of the wicked tenants in the vineyard in which, eventually, the son of the owner was cast out and killed. The saying associated with this is”Christ is the stone rejected by the builders, yet God makes him the cornerstone. “This reading speaks seriously about responsibility. Faith, the gift that is given to us, is a trust that should produce visible fruit. Joined to the rejected and risen cornerstone ,we can become a people who offer God the harvest he desires.Let us pray:Lord God, you have planted and cared for your vineyard with patient love. Turn your face towards us and revive what has grown neglected within us. Through Jesus Christ, the cornerstone, make our lives fruitful in justice, mercy and faithful service. Guard our hearts with your peace when we become anxious, and teach us to bring every need before you with Thanksgiving. May our thoughts and actions give you a harvest that lasts. Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be Amen . Thank you for joining in with the Oblate family. Have a blessed day.

Hello and welcome to the Oblate Family morning reflection - Our Moment to Pause. This week we hear from Pat Hughes from Birkenhead, England.Welcome to a moment to pause on Saturday, the 3rd of October. Today’s  Gospel reading is from Luke chapter 10 verse 17 -24Here we learn about the returning of the 72 disciples. The 72 returned with joy saying “Lord, the devils also are subject to us ,in thy name .”Jesus replied “rejoice not in this that spirits are subject unto you, but rejoice in this that your names are written in heaven. “This is the deepest joy ! “Blessed are the eyes that see the things which you see.”The Father reveals the mysteries of the kingdom to “little ones” that is, those willing to receive rather than rely on their own wisdom or achievements. Our faith becomes steady when we stop measuring it by success, influence ,or extraordinary results. We can simply ask for a teachable heart , to receive the light of God’s word ,and remember that belonging to Christ is the lasting gift. Lord Jesus ,reveal your presence in your word and in the quiet work of conversion .Give me understanding to follow your commandments,  courage to serve you ,and joy in the hope that our name is held in heaven. AmenThank you for joining our Oblate prayer today

Hello and welcome to the Oblate Family morning reflection - Our Moment to Pause. This week we hear from Pat Hughes from Birkenhead, England.Good morning to you wherever you are today, Friday 2nd October. In today’s Gospel , verses 1-5 and verse 10, from Matthew 18 , Jesus is asked by the disciples “Who thinkest thou is the greater in the kingdom of heaven?” Jesus took a little child and said “unless you become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”Isn’t it brilliant when you see a child make friends with another regardless of race, colour, disability and so on.: their innocence and trust ! “See that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”Father God give me the trusting heart of a child. Help me to recognise Christ in those who are small, dependent, or easily overlooked. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen Have a glorious day and thank you for belonging to the Oblate family
